Architect L. Gopakumar, Managing Director of the publishing House Designer Publications Kerala Pvt Ltd and the Chief Editor of the first architecture magazine in Malayalam, Designer+Builder, is the Chairman of DiiD. He leads all the administrative as well as other activities of the Institute.

Mr. Gopakumar is one of the leading architects in Kerala. He passed out from the premier institute, College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram and set up practice in Kochi in the year 1990. Currently he is the architectural advisor to KITCO.

The projects handled by Mr. Gopakumar were the prestigious Vyttila Mobility Hub, Airport Museum & Trade Centre at Nedumbasserry, Corporate Office for ‘Roads & Bridges Corporation’ at Kakkanadu, Tribal Museum and Performing Theatre at Foreshore Road, Ernakulam, Entrance Gate to LNG Terminal at Vypin etc. He has also designed a number of private residences and apartments. He is also the architect behind the biggest Waste Treatment Plant in Kerala. His overseas projects include a 150-bed multi-specialty hospital in Quatar. He  has held the positions of Chairman,Indian Institute of Architects, Kochi Centre and Secretary,Institute of Indian Interior Designers,Kerala Chapter.


Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Rema S. Kartha, the Chief Executive Officer of Designer Publications Kerala Pvt Ltd, is responsible for  the Institute’s overall functioning. A Postgraduate in Journalism, and qualified with a Doctorate in Malayalam Language & Literature, she is the Editor of Designer+Builder (the first architecture magazine in Malayalam)and Silver Line (the lifestyle magazine), the two magazines  published by Designer Publications. She is also the Group Editor of Design Detail, the pioneer national architecture magazine in English, yet another publication from the House of Designer. She is the Press member of the Institute of Indian Interior Designers, Kerala Chapter. Other than in Architecture journalism, her areas of contribution are in Malayalam literature.


Director  – DiiD

 Smt M.R. Vijayalekshmi, the present Director, is in charge of the day-to-day running of the Institute. She is also responsible for the curriculum activities, maintenance of office functioning and so on. She was retired from Spices Board a Govt. of India organization, after 37 years of service as Deputy Director. A Post Graduate in Sociology and acquired MBA from IGNOU.
